Collective consciousness & Epigenetics.

If as I believe, the expression of our 'evolved collective consciousness' makes us as humans the way we are in general with variability occuring both with differences in our DNA and that of influences of culture, geography, religion etc it is interesting that science is now starting to understand about what is termed 'Epigenetics' whereby genes are modified or switched on and off and consequently exhibiting subtle differences in morphology and/or behavior. Does this mean that people with almost identical gene sets (eg, identical twins) may tend to offer varying thought and/or behavioral attributes for natural selection to act on to influence the direction of human evolution into the future ?
